Mull It Over

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
  • 1 cup pitted cherries
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 2-4 Tablespoons agave, honey,or maple syrupOptional
  • 1/4 cup brandy (or your favorite liqueur)
  • garnish: citrus slices (orange, lemon), more cinnamon sticks, more star anise

Method

Add all ingredients to large pot, heat to simmer over medium-high heat – do not boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes – 2 hours. Strain, serve warm, garnish as desired.
